Throughout The Old Testament the people of God offered many animal sacrifices to God for the forgiveness of sins but the blood of bulls and goats could not extinguish sin. The sins of the Israelites were merely rolled forward for the period of a year and the process was then repeated… In order to reconcile man with God, a perfect sacrifice was required.
Enter Jesus Christ, the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to a virgin. Definitely not your average man! He lived and taught for 33 years and became the perfect sacrifice for reconciliation. He allowed himself to be crucified in order to overcome sin and death not just for the people of Israel but all the world!
Christ’s death being the perfect sacrifice, He fulfilled (concluded) the Old Testament era including the Law of Moses, The Ten Commandments and the need for animal sacrifices. He initiated the New Testament era which exists for everyone to this day.
We’ve covered a lot territory so far, let’s review… Watch this short video to recap.
